Midi Problem Korg PadKontrol

Post by nils808 » Mon Jun 11, 2007 6:52 pm

My new Korg PadKontrol sends wrong midi-messages to live. Instead of sending the note C2 it sends the note C1. Does anyone have an idea how I could solve that problem?

Yeah... I think it might be Live that is incorrect. The workaround is to set midi notes one octave higher on the padkontrol.

It's the same with the sequencer of Reason so I'm not sure if it is a Live problem.

I was thinking of when I try to map the PadKontrol to Impulse in Live... Impulse accepts a weird range of notes to begin with (not standard) but then I think I read somewhere that the whole Live MIDI is out of whack somewhat with standard MIDI practice, but I could be mistaken.

it isn't a problem of the padkontrol.
the thing is that there are two standards. one has c1 as the lowest note possible. another has c0 as the lowest note possible. you just have to transpose everything by one octave.

I'M SICK OF THIS BULLSHIT!!!!!! IF THESE FAT FREAKIN LAZY PROGRAMMERS WOULD GET OFF THEIR FAT FREAKING ASSES AND WRITE SOME GOOD REVISIONS TO THESE KNOWN BUGS WE WOULDN'T HAVE TO DO "WORK AROUNDS". I'M SICK OF THIS BULLSHIT!

YET ANOTHER WORKAROUND. HOW ABOUT THEY GIVE ME A REACH-AROUND FOR EVERY WORK-AROUND I HAVE TO BE INCONVENIENCED WITH? THAT SOUNDS FAIR!

it's not a workaround. there are 2 standards for midi notes in editors, one with the lowest note being C1 and the other being C0 being the lowest note. SO THIS ISN'T A BUG. chill the f*** out.

Not a bug, but would be nice if controller manufacturers put it in the manual somewhere. I really like the padKontrol (I mean, REALLY), but between the midi note thing and no mention of how to set the preferences to get the preset librarian to work, I think the documentation could be better. But it seems this way all over... I had to spend an hour trawling through the NI forums to figure out the right file structure to get my battery 2 kits working right again. Is it so hard to include this kind of information in the printed materials, or at least an easily accessed part of the website?
