Axiom keyboard and Impulse

Post by Landdogger » Tue Jun 12, 2007 4:34 pm

For some reason, my Axiom 49's pressure pads aren't working with the Impulse drum sounds. I've made it work before, but can't remember if its a matter of assigning the right output on the keyboard, or making sure the pressure pads are recognized by Live. Can anyone help?

Thanks!

I think you need to assign the pads the corresponding midi parameter# as per the cells in Impulse...

Example: cell 1 C3 = midi param 36...

The above is an example and not the correct values... When all else fails RTM...

I don't remember what the default note value setting is for the pressure pads, but on my Axiom 61, at least when using it with Reason's remote files, they begin at C1. Impulse responds to C3-D3-E3-F3-G3-A3-B3-C4

If you are using the midi maps created by Ableton you just switch to preset #18 on the Axiom. The pads are mapped to the 8 slots in Impulse. You can get the presets by downloading the Axiom tutorial from Ableton. The tutorial runs you through the process.

Otherwise you could create your own and set the pads to output the corresponding midi values of the Impulse slots.

Or use the M-Audio Enigma editor.

I use the first method. It works and is hassle free.

Got it. It's actually preset #17 :)

Thanks!

Yes, 17 works, and if you download the Axiom Tuturial Live Pack from the Ableton site, you'll get some REALLY cool stuff on 18, 19, and 20, with mappings to most controls by changing the MIDI channel.
