UB looper for intel mac

Post by babkubwa » Mon Jun 18, 2007 3:51 pm

missing the angstro looper from my live setup - been checking out the augustus loop demo but not convinced to buy yet.

Super looper seems far to much of a PITA, and loopy llamma doesn't load

Any suggestions? anything else out there?

I tried all, I prefer Augustus... it does all of the basic stuff except non-destructive Undo. I suggest exploring the Punch In / Punch Out and Q Length functionality.. I agree about SooperLooper - cool but the implementation isn't that great..

SooperLooper works great here. You also get a looper inside Guitar Rig.

just came across musolomo,

very interesting plugin - although not as easy to use as it looks.

The Freeze function on the ping pong delay is so close to what I'm after ! if only it was midi assignable, with a longer delay time, and with an option to turn the stereo effect off.

I'll spend some more time with Sooper looper and see if I can get on better with it, I've been reading about some issues with latency - might be a problem, I'm mostly interested in looping drums and percussion

Digital Performer 5 comes with 'Polar', which is the best looper ive used - hardware or software! You press up+shift+p and then this looping workstation appears before your eyes! Its actually intended for studio use as guitarists, bassists, vocalists or any musician can quickly record 20 takes non-stop and then choose the best take and then place it in a sequence.

Its really quick and intuitive to use, and you have so much control over every layer. Although the thing i find most useful is that it will sync up with DP, so you can have a rhythm and whatever else going on in the backround which will be perfectly looped(or not if desired).

granted that DP is an expensive piece of software, and that this looper shouldnt really justify a purchase(although it would for me :P ) but, if you own DP or looking to buy a mac-based sequencer(in addition to Live) then consider it, because this 'Polar' tool is criminally overlooked.

You can assign the Freeze function in Ping Pong delay to a midi effect/key in 6.0.7 at least... I am doing it right now... It does color the sound a little... and yeah there is a stereo effect (doh)... but this is pretty cool, I didn't even notice this before, so glad to learn something new! :)

If you put it at 0% dry/wet with freeze off, and then turn it to 100% dry/wet with freeze on (do both with the same key mapping perhaps?) then you can get rid of most of the 'delay' effect...

Perhaps follow this with a Utility to make it a mono 'stereo' output?

Good tips with the Ping Pong! it really works nice - almost just right, really hope they don't miss making the most of this with Live 7.

DP5s Polar looks really nice. especially the saving options on there - Do you think I could get it working on a send return loop rewired to live?
