Odd glitches during the first play
The first time I play a set I get odd glitches in the audio. It happens at the point when a certain new clip gets played on particular tracks. I cannot trace it down to any one VSTi and it only happens on the first playthrough. The second, third or fourth time around, all is well. It doesn't do it on render either.
Its the same sort of glitch you get when you add a VSTi, or VST, while the track is playing. Its that sort of little hop that I presume is Live adding PDC to the whole audio output to keep everything in time.
Its completely repeatable on any one set. The same tracks do it, but only the once. You can start a track anywhere in the set, and it'll do it. Its almost as if Live doesn't know the VST is there until its asks to play it - then it 'plops' as if the VST has been simply dropped into the track manually.
It doesn't happen on simple sets, only on complex tracks with a combination of the different VST devices.
My suspicion is that is Sampler that is causing the problem, but it also happens with audio clips that have automated send levels.
Anyone else get this??

glitches at start
I got the same problem with impulse at the start of a new loaded set. When I wait till all audio is completely loaded, there is no glitch. Indipendend of Sampler and other VST´s. M.Lo

Re: glitches at start
Yes, I used to get this too in Live 5.2. A type of double hit on the drum patterns as the waveform files load up in the background. I don't think I get this in Live 6 though.M.Low wrote:I got the same problem with impulse at the start of a new loaded set. When I wait till all audio is completely loaded, there is no glitch. But this isn't the problem I'm talking about. You can wait for as long as you like, this glitching always happens on first playback with complex sets and certain combinations of VSTi and clips. Always in the same place, always with the same VSTi in that particular set.
I also got this in my latest project in Live 6.07 with simpler. No audio except the short samples loaded in two instances of Impulse and Simpler. Already got that repeatedly with Live 5. Worked each time. This is a heavy bug when you wanna play tracks live !!!!

i might be wrong here, i only just started making music/using Live again after a long break, but i seem to remember that turning on of your midi controller knobs or whatever before starting your track cures this problem.
could be that this 'fix' was for some other bug, but iirc, this should do it.

Thanks for that. Unfortunately, I don't have any knobs on my midi controller.borg wrote:i seem to remember that turning on of your midi controller knobs or whatever before starting your track cures this problem.
But it does get me thinking that it must have something to do with automation and PDC values.
I need to do some more investigating, but at least I now know that its not just me.
Friends, aren't you sure we're talking about the same thing in this thread?:

This is a very awful issue

I think there are a few issues coming up in that thread and not all of them entirely related. But one of the posts there does ring with my problem.Tarasmil wrote:Friends, aren't you sure we're talking about the same thing in this thread?:

Anyway, I'm running on Win XP on PC so its not a OS-X thing.
But I have been doing some more tests on what causes this problem. I haven't done enough testing to be fully sure yet. But high on my suspicion list is tracks with Sampler that also have sends enabled. On the sends themselves there must be an Ableton reverb and a delay.
I'm going to try to recreate the problem with a Liveset that uses only the factory sounds so I can let other people have a go.
