VST pluggins not seen

Post by vfire » Wed Jun 20, 2007 7:09 pm

Any tips for installing vst pluggins?

Some I installed just turn up and others don't.

What directory should they be installed into?

I tried installing them into the Steinberg/vst folder and I tried making an alias shortcut within the vst folder to where the pluggin is actually installed.

Ableton still won't see it. I've even tried copying the dll files too?

Hi,

In Live, open the Preferences, File/Folder tab (Live 6), and see the path for your VST folder. That is the path Live will look at to find the plugins, so the plugins need to be installed in that folder.

You're right, it is the dll file that counts. So, some plugins that also have a standalone version may need to be installed in their own folder for clarity, but the corresponding dll should be in the common VST folder.
