Novation Remote SL...Help Needed

Post by altair » Fri Jun 22, 2007 9:49 pm

Ok this question isnt specific to ableton, its more about the Novation SL and i figured a few people on this forum would have one and might be able to help.

1. Is it possible to change the automap layout for plugins ? when i load a plugin and switch to plug-in automap mode [template 38] it has automatically mapped the plugins controls to various knobs etc, now sometimes this is ok but most of the time i dont find it ideal. what i want to be able to do is edit the layout to how i want it and then save that as the default so that every time i open the automap version of the plugin it uses my layout i just created. Is this possible ? or do i have to create a seperate template for the plugin which i then have to manually switch to everytime i use the plugin.

2. Im having issue with PSP Nitro automapped. im trying to create a template for it and iv nearly done that except for one function which i simply cant work out how to control..this is the Operator Type. For all the other controls on the nitro i managed to use the "learn feature" but to change the operator type you dont push a button or move a knob..you have to choose the operator type with your mouse from a drop down menu [found on nitro's lcd screen].

unfortunatley because of this i cant map anything to operator type using the "learn" function. However i know that it's possible to map a control to the function as the automap layout for this plugin has a knob controlling it...but i have no idea how the guys at novation managed to map the control. I have gone into edit mode to check what the settings are for the knob and written them down and then gone to my template and copied them exactly...but it doesnt seem to work and i have no idea why.

If anyone can help it would REALLY be appreciated, im completley confused and could really do with some help.

Peace

Here's a suggestion;

"Group" your plugin (requires Live 6). Even if it's only one plugin, group it, and then map your favourite 8 parameters to those 8 macro knobs. Be sure to name them appropriately, so you can identify them on the SL display. Now, when you click on that "group" (containing a single plugin), your automap will choose those 8 particular parameters.

Unfortunately I can't comment on PSP nitro, sorry... I've never used it.

ah! i'd been trying to figure out how to do that for days!
...and as always with Live, the solution was deceptively simple :)
Cheers for that
