direct monitering?

i've read that i need to directly moniter my vocals/recording to get rid of the echo/delay. but i'm unsure of how to do this. i'm using live 5 still, and a presonus firebox on mac g5.

This means that you would use the monitor function of your soundcard to listen, and not use the monitor section in Live.

I don't know the specifics of your card, but that's where you need to be looking.
