hello all,
i have a firebox and mac g5 into ableton live 5.
i know there are lots of discussions in regards to when recording vocals/audio via microphone, on these that the input is very low, requiring it to be cranked and often causing distortion.
my question is, it seems as alot of people on this board use a firebox, what is the solution? of everything i've read there hasn't been one definitive thing to do.
thanks!

I record vocals and instruments thru a variety of mics and haven't experienced this problem.
But you could:
Check "+12 dB" in the Firebox control applet?
Get a good mic preamp?
Use a hotter microphone?
Record closer to the mic?
Add a Utility vst to the track and crank the gain?
Boost the gain in the track envelope?
Turn everything else down and crank the Master?

open the "firebox mixer" and turn up the faders (i think they default to something like -14dB)ryansantos wrote:hello all,
