CHORD PAD a new solution for DJ's who cant play KB

Post by onehitwonder » Tue Jun 26, 2007 4:14 am

There are a lot of Live users who does not have the knowledge of musical chord & progrssions, while they still can decide what they like to sound (like DJ's and hiphop or even house creators who usually use vinyls samples).

A solution for that is the chord pad. What chord pad does is just by hitting the pad, it plays the chords. Please imagine the pads of Live'simpulse. You have several pads and each pad has different chords, like Fmaj7  E7  Am7  Gm7/C7....etc.

Just for an example please take a look at the following link:

http://korg.com/gear/prod_info.asp?a_pr ... egory_id=1

You can see a synthesizer KB called M3. Right under the Keyboard's LED, you see several pads. This pad is the hint. This synthesizer can assign several chords to each pad. Also there are several presets of chord progressions which is frequently used in dance/rock/pops/classic/jazz/whatever songs..

This would be great if you can make a MIDI plugin, or if not a feature in simpler and operator.

The plugin "Chord" is fun and creative to use, but is not truely useful to people who cant play keyboards.

what do you think?

Learn to use your other two fingers ;)

Just kidding. Could be a fun tool, but you could probably make a midi rack with regular ableton tools that will do it.
