[OT] Washington DC - What to do? Where to go?

Post by rbmonosylabik » Thu Jun 28, 2007 4:16 pm

Hey there,

So I'll be going to DC for the next month, and as I don't know anything about the place, I'd appreciate if you guys could give me suggestions of places to go, things to do, gigs to attend and so.

DC is full of great things to do. Endless museums, restaurants and clubs. Pick up the City Guide for DC. Check out the 0930 club (also if Bob Mould and Blow-Off do their thing in the time you are in town).

I live in the area: are you coming here wanting to play/gig, or just want some things to visit?

The metro is easy to get around on and stops near major attractions. If there was one thing to see I think it would be the Mall (the Senate building, washington monument, other monuments are near there). If you are into museums, lots of those: the Air and Space museum is pretty cool, also the Museum of the American Indian.

[edit] For music events, keep an eye on:

UTENZIL a tool... of the muse.

Wow all you people from DC, There is a sunset session with Free Beer this weekend on the roof of five if anyone wants to meet up. My roommate is spinning so it should be a good time.

Here are the big ones to check out, there is no shortage of smaller clubs/bars in DC. Check out buzzlife.com or Groovanauts.com under the DC section.

Five - House
Fur - Trance/Hi-energy type stuff on saturday.
Ibiza - Some new club just opening up, no idea on this yet.

There are a bunch more hip-hop / top40 / whatever room your in type clubs.

Thanks a lot everyone. I'm checking out everything posted and trying to plan what I'll do once I'm there. I've already found quite a lot of exciting things to do.

I'm not playing there this time, but maybe I'll be going back later during the year, so maybe then I'll give it a shot.
