Hooking up SooperLooper and FCB1010

Post by nicosp » Sun Jul 08, 2007 3:59 pm

I'm aware that there are some other threads on this topic but I still haven't figured out how to link SL to FCB1010. (As regards audio, SL works just fine.)

I've successfully linked FCB1010 to Live (5) and can control all sorts of things (mixer, plugin parameters etc.). For some reason I can't get any response from SL, though. First, there is no triangle button to show the plugin parameters. Second, midi-bindings in the SL GUI do not work either. Any suggestions on what else I could try?

Best regards

Nico

Hi,

SooperLooper needs to be in a midi track.
do it this way:
Track 1 audio track is the audio input.
Track 2 midi track with SooperLooper
Create your midi bindings etc. (use the sooper looper midi learn feature, works great see the sooper looper doco for details)
I know what you mean by not having the triangle, it's not available for sooper looper, need to use the SL Gui.

Send audio out from track 1 to the midi track
(note it will look something like "track 2 sooper looper 3/4)

something like that.

Send audio output from Track 2 midi to master
all set.

I have not had luck with multiple "loops" in Sooper looper. Abelton doesn;t recognize the multple loops as seperate audio outputs for some reason so even if you create multiple loops in SL, ableton will only route audio to Loop1.

To get around this I do the following
Track 1 audio in
Route the output to Master and Sends a and b
Track 2 Midi Track with Sooper Looper
Track 3 Midi track with Sooper Looper
Audio out from Send A to Track 2 sooper Looper 3/4
Audio Out from send B to Track 3 sooper looper 3/4

Create midi bindings appropriately. some buttons control Track 2 SL and some control Track 3 SL
works like a champ.

it did take some playing around though. I hope this helps.

I never knew sooper looper was ported to a vst... I always thought it was its own application to be hooked into JACK. I am gonna have to check that out.
2.0Ghz Coreduo PC notebook, 4GB ram, Overclocked to hell sittin on aluminum extra fans w/ no drivebay or pcmcia...
2.8Ghz Quadcore on Asus MB, 4GBRam, Dual 512MB SLI Graphics both @16x.

oh yeah, works great.
No need for jack if you plug it into your daw

in ableton just need to make sure it's in a midi track and then route audio to your desire.

here the link
http://essej.net/sooperlooper/

note: it is an Audio Unit for MAC, not VST.

don't know if that makes a diffrence to you.

It also even has a god quick blurb in their doco on setting it up to be used in Ableton.
