Silly question ,but....
Silly question ,but....
They say ableton is a multi functional program. But how are you supposed to be able to dj on it without a pitch shift adjustment??
Sure you have that tempo button ,but all that means is that you can play tunes at the same tempo.
How do you align the beats?
Cheers..

read the manual on WARPing
www.abletonlivedj.com is all about live DJing.
watch the videos on this site about it. really, your question is very very basic a full explanation would take a few pages.

I'll be probably be flamed for this, but hey im only trying to grasp this program..
Ive got two decks in ableton 1 and 2..Both decks are playing the same tempo
I activate track 1.
And i then activate deck 2,while deck 1 is hypothetically on,say bar 9.5.
To get both of these decks in sync i would need to pitchshift half a beat so both of these tracks are sync. Wouldnt i? Or does ableton activate both decks in sync say so that they are both on the beat.
Regards,
Paul.

You're trying to force an old-fashioned way of DJing into Live's way of working. Live is a completely new mindset with far more scope for creativity, performance, and musicianship. Forget what you know about pitch shifting, tempo, beatmatching, etc the old way. Although you CAN force Live into DJing the 'traditional' way, IMO you'd be wasting your time. You might as well stick to your record and CD players, or Traktor/etc.
I'd suggest checking out some tutorials and the manual and starting afresh. Then come back here with some specific questions, and you'll find tons of help.

read about warping. If you are just a looper then you are in for a long night. If you write your beats then edit the midi maplockyp wrote:They say ableton is a multi functional program. But how are you supposed to be able to dj on it without a pitch shift adjustment??

Computer games don't effect kids... If Pacman affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music
