Quad Processor? x64?

Does the Multicore and Multiprocessor Support means that LIVE can get all the benefits of the Quad Processor such as Q6600 or it only means Processor with 2 cores? & what about 64 bit (Intel EM64T)???

Live 6 supports up to 8 cores.
However, do not expect 8 times the performace of a single core, since assigning the tasks to different cores itself is a cpu intensive process which gets more complex with each additional core. Without having tested it I would assume that e.g. a dual quad core mac will feel like 3 to 3,5 times a single dual core machine.

it seems quite surreal to me that we are even talking about speeds 3-3,5 times faster than a dual core machine - I just came from an Athlon 2200

unfortunately my move to the world of dual core has been accompanied by Vista, which has made it a little hazier how much it has improved things for me, but I'm still reeling at the things that can be done now at home on a $1500 AUD laptop

OK what about 64bit ? I believe only in 64 bit you can feel the real power of a quad processor
