I don't know why they left that info out of the manual. :P

OK. If it's in the manual what page is it on?

It's been asked once b4 on the forum - no concrete answer was given except that you can't do it any more.

Is there a workaround perhaps?

ok... use the track output dialog box to send the track to cue. I believe that box is midi assignable, sending values to it should change it. I don't have Live in front of me, check it out.

Page 135 of the manual in the section called

13.5 Soloing and Cueing

I'm glad to help but don't play me. Anyway, enough with being bitchy, does that help?

LOL. Not 'playing' anyone I just thought you were being a total cock giving a RTFM reply.

Anyway, that aside, thanks for the reply. However that isn't the answer and only highlights exactly what I'm asking about.
Point three of 13.5 says:
Activate cueing by setting the Solo/Cue mode switch to cue.

Where's the MIDI control of the button gone and is there a workaround?

what do you mean; where is the MIDI control of the button gone?

maybe if you explained what result you were trying to get it would help us help you. do you want have a button on a controller jump between solo and cue?

Cheers. Yes that's exactly it. As far as I can remember the older versions allowed a MIDI assignment to that button?

you can do a midi assignment to it, but it's either a solo, or a cue button, not both at once. if you have a cue output setup in the master track it'll automatically become a cue button...

I'm messing with assign a key, button, encoder, slider to the Solo button AND a send on a track to toggle from soloing a track to sending it to a send which can be sent to the Cue output. Seems they both use different types of data, not sure what type Solo is, in absolute mode a turn from low to high on an encoder makes the button blink. Assigning to a keyboard key makes them turn on/off at the same time.

I think that's close to a solution but it's not working right. :?

i'm guessing you've already tried this tone, but have you inverted the levels on the send when you key assign it?

yeah, tried that, no effect. the odd part is the behavior of the solo button, try it, one twist of an encoder and it toggles on/off many times. I figured that setting an encoder to a small range to cover the on/off states might work but then it has to control a send level too.

is the solo midi control buggy?

MONDAY!!! hang in there man, maybe a doctor can prescribe some sedatives to help you get through the weekend. or your local library could use the demo version of Live on its computers. ;) I guess you won't be posting either... wait a second!!!

nunrggy - this is an interesting topic, beyond the scope of how I interpreted your original question. it's a crime to lose functionality.
