who is went through a mental block when it comes to stage names...
everybody suggest one..
im looking for something funky and techy :D
Funky Shit is pretty good.
My advice: let your friends name you. That's the best, because it's the most sincere. I have a buddy named Snyde (a play on the word "snide") because it perfectly fits his personality. He didn't choose it himself, but it works.
If you must choose your own name yourself, then it should describe your music. M. Bréqs is a misspelled, phoney-francophone version of "Mr. Breaks", so it's obvious what my music sounds like.
The other good idea is to choose something that's not so pretentious. Make fun of yourself. My French is horribly accented and not very smooth, so using a ridiculous, artificially french name is a dig at myself, from my time in Montreal.
My last piece of advice is that unless you're making fun of yourself, don't choose something pretentious. However, if pretentious is what you're after, then About the worst names you could choose (for funky tech) would be "Funktronics", "Funkatron", "Gruv-o-matic 3000", "Diskobot", "ROBOFUNK", "Mecha-funk", etc. Feel free to mix n' match the prefixes and suffixes.
Pretentious? you bet. But I remember a guy who called his band "The Super-Megas". It was so ridiculously over the top, pretentious and arrogant, that it just worked in an ironic sense. Their instrumentation was an accordion, acoustic bass and a snare drum, and they played comedy folk music. Brilliant stage name there.
