emu e6400 hook up

i promise i have read the manual

i linked an EMU E6400 to LIVE 6 via Edirol UA-20

mid control from LIVE works
audio in to LIVE works


any body recommend the best way to ....

play the EMU via midi WHILST recording the EMU as a n i/c audio signal
(is it simply a monitor options box thing???)
