SAMPLING with the SIMPLER QUESTIONs FOR ABLETON
I am still new to this whole Producing thing and i need to ask some questions about the ableton simpler
1. i have dropped a sample in the simpler but when i play it on my keyboard, the only thing that changes inbetween the notes is the velocity of the actual sample.
I am trying to change the note/pitch of the sample threw each key, NOT THE SPEED.. can ableton carry our this affect
-i am running a mac
-i also use a midi keyboard with some drum pads on it (aximo 61)
I am looking to purchase this MPD24 but i am not sure if this is gona change the sound of my samples. My main objective of this thread is to find out how i can make my samples using different notes/pitch like this video

When you drop a file into simpler you should be able to play it at different pitch using a midi keyboard/sequence but when you downpitch the sample will be longer and if you upitch the sample will be shorter.
I don't understand you velocity thing at all btw.
If you want simpler to play different note with the same sample length you have to use multisample program, that means you have more than one sample loaded in simpler ( in the best case one sample for each note). Simpler can load multisamples patch but can't edit it. Sampler can.
By reading the manual you will be able to get yourself into it easily.

there's a way to do that without simpler/sampler
drop a sample into a clip
turn on midi learn
HOLD DOWN a midi low note on your keyboard
hit a note that's up high
let go of both keys
turn off midi learn
play the sample, it's now pitched from one key to the next, no change in sample speed.
I don't have simpler in front of me to give advice on that.

Damn, I forgetted that one, i'm not using that function often but it's very suitable in the present case. Thx for the little reminderTone Deft wrote:there's a way to do that without simpler/sampler

As far as I know, any midi assignment could be made to a range of keys this way. Cool if you have for example a chain with 5 different "presets" - map it to C-E and you have instant switches. Map a whole octave to one of the controls in the resonator, and you can actually play the effect.Tone Deft wrote:it's a good one and not documented, I don't think. they did the same method for assigning ranges of keys to the chain selector, I don't know if it applies anywhere else.

Re: SAMPLING with the SIMPLER QUESTIONs FOR ABLETON
Sorry to bring this one back from the grave, but does this still work I couldn't get it to. Ctrl+m hold down a note on keyboard thats low then high. Let go and undo midi learn. No voila.
Nvm Didn't have my keyboard setup right in the preferences! Thanks for the gem!
