How do I make wave files have a piano roll?
I've tried dragging sounds to the piano roll but it dont work.

put a simpler instrument into the track and drop the waveform on top of simpler, then the piano roll notes play the simpler, the simpler plays the waveform.

Just to clearify the answer Tone Deft gives.

Instruments have piano rolls
Audio tracks are like tape decks. They play back audio.

The manual covers the difference between Audio tracks versus MIDI tracks pretty well.

Luckily, Instruments called Samplers (such as "simpler") allow you to take audio and play it like an instrument
