DJing with Ableton, how the heck can I cue in my headphones

Post by Ripp » Tue Aug 07, 2007 2:35 pm

I have been playing out with Ableton for a bit and other then just mixing from a monitor or making sure my mapping/warping is dead on there is no way for me to make sure I will not sound like crap.

How can I set up ableton to let me cue in my headphones with a 4 x 4 Mobile USB Audio/MIDI Interface with Preamps? I would like to be able to cue right from the sound card.

I am having hard time setting this up as M-Audio is not much help, what do I need in terms of cables and how do I load it in to Ableton if I am running 4 channels?

Thanks for any help you guys can offer.....

Enable the second set of outputs in Preferences (probably called 3/4). Then change the Cue channel (found above the Main channels volume slider, you may need to switch on the IO section to view this).

This should be in the manual if you want to do some reading

Take a look at my cueing guide at www.vinkalmann.com. It's geared towards the Echo Indigo DJ, but the same ideas apply for all sound cards.
