New (better?) Mac OSX Alternative to DBlue Glitch
New (better?) Mac OSX Alternative to DBlue Glitch
(From the site) what is it: an audio plugin that mutates your Ableton Live audio in real time, under your control
(From me) This is freakin cool!! I missed DBlue Glitch switching to a mac, not anymore!! A lot of control, easy tio use, and no bugs yet!
Plus its only 15 bucks!
Check it out and let us know what you think or any tip/tricks presets you come up with.

no offence but this is def. not better than dBlue Glitch AND it costs $.
I could see justifying paying for this if it had more features and actually sounded better, but it doesn't. It was written in Max (which 'sounds' tingy to begin with). Furthermore, this only works with Live, whereas Glitch works with several hosts.
I think it is a shame that they would charge for this plugin knowing very well they are exploiting Mac users who wish they could use Glitch.

Glitch, is what it is, and these people are obviously trying to get by on the total awesomeness of Dblue Glitch.. I'm getting a macbook pro soon, and while I am sure that there are things the mac will rock at that the pc won't... I'm extremely sure that this piece of software does not touch dblue Glitch yet. Besides, I stay away from the pluggo runtime. I have never had good luck with it. Tangentially.. is there a mac instajungle analogue?
Too much overhead, and time involved with creating it. It's like building a raft when you have a kayak sitting in front of you. But if your absolutely certain that the rack you built beats what Glitch already does... prove it. Upload your rack so others can try it.
I don't use Glitch for bragging rights. I use it because, For what it does it sounds better, is quicker and looks prettier than the alternatives.

livecut? it's available as an AU (http://mdsp.smartelectronix.com/2005/07/livecut.php)Tangentially.. is there a mac instajungle analogue?
he seems to be working on a full release that looks a bit more dBlue Glitchish as well... http://mdsp.smartelectronix.com/2007/04 ... p#comments
in all seriousness though, theres nothing you can't do with good slicing/programming that these plugs do - for instant gratification though they can't be beat!! and i admit to having used them live on occasion...
Hp Elitebook 2.8Ghz. Live 7.0.14 & Live 8.1.5, XP Pro. and stuff...
That's the thing though.. Livecut, Instajungle, and Dblue Glitch each do fairly different things. Livecut will continuously make breaks and fills in Aphex/Warp and CutProc Style. Without end Amen.. Glitch will coherently allow you to do glitch effects as randomly or not as you want. But Instajungle... Now thats another beast altogether. It does nothing but pass audio when you aren't using it even when in the chain but if you key map it and learn how to use it correctly... You don't have to slice and dice anymore.. believe me. Once I got the hang of it, I realized you can make any break or break style you want at the drop of the hat. You just have to know when to engage it and when to release it. Essentially Instajungle and Dblue Glitch paired together negate the need to spend hours dicing breaks to completely control them in any manner you wish..
I'm not going to delete Livecut anytime soon... But I don't need it anymore...

after the post I read about the new livecut in the works.. Nice... but instajungle is still the best of both worlds.
Re-Edit
Since I've never had a Mac I've never looked to see if stuff is available for it. Thank Gawd almighty InstaJungle already is available for the Mac. Whew!

malfunction vs dblue glitch
I'v just bought this malfunction plug myself. - I would stop short of "exploiting mac users" as they do have a demo version available for download - Really wish I had tried it before buying! - your absolutely right about the dodgy timing and audio quality - Malfunction is not a patch on Dblue Glitch. I really miss Glitch intensely - pleeease port it over dblue, sure theres a several able programmers ready to assistpremodea wrote:no offence but this is def. not better than dBlue Glitch AND it costs $.

malfunction vs dblue glitch
whoops
Recently, I found some sample libraries from a UK company named SONICCOUTURE, you should check their Konkrete bundles, apparently they use Kontakt 2 script engine to create a glitch engine for use with their drum maps in Kontakt 2, they have maps for other formats including Battery and EXS24(Mac), even though you need to be using Kontakt 2 to utilise the glitch engine script. You should watch The Konkrete Glitch Machine Demo Video here (http://www.soniccouture.com/pages/konkrete2.php). Pricing is very reasonable and quality is really good, as far as I can see. Both for Mac and PC, of course, looks really good!
What I do (and no I'm not uploading it for you):
For dBlue style glitching, create a rack with all the different glitch effects you want to use in parallel e.g. buffer override, spectral freeze, livecut for random stuttering, et. al. Unhide the chain selector and have it assign out evenly.
Then, use dummy clips to program your glicth patterns by drawing envelopes for the chain selector.
I'm not knocking dBlue, but what you can do in live with racks is limitless. You can program unlimited glitch patterns and you can have unlimited glitch efx to choose from.
And it it's not hard to set up, and once you have a glitch rack you like save it as a preset, hell name it "dBlue rip off rack".
