Can I rip from CD

I'm learning Live and since I don't have any gear at the moment, I'm trying to practice sampling stuff. I'm trying to rip stuff directly from a cd into live but it doesn't seem to want to let me do it...is there a way?

not directly. rip to mp3 or wave files and then take it into live.
Hp Elitebook 2.8Ghz. Live 7.0.14 & Live 8.1.5, XP Pro. and stuff...
