Buying downloadable version of Live

Post by stereoapples » Fri Aug 10, 2007 8:29 pm

Hi!

First post here, the forum looks great!

Ok, i'm planning to buy the latest version of Live without the box as soon as i get my new laptop. Could anyone explain to me how does the downloadable version works? You just download the thing via the link Ableton send you, install it with the serial and that's it? What if after installing it, i format my laptop and want to re-install it? Do i need a backup of what i downloaded from Ableton? Can i re-install it as many times as i want on the same computer? Stupid questions but any help appreciated

Thanks.

Well Im a bit obsessive about my hard drive. I have it split in to two partions. I did a clean install of windows got it all set up the way I like it and made a backup using Ghost and saved it to the second partition.

I must have restored windows at least 6 times from the backup and then reinstalled Live and Ive never had to request new autorisation codes for live or any other software that uses C/R protection.

I believe the problems arise when you start changing components in the PC.
