Hi,
Has anyone got any feedback / comments about the Korg R3?
I tried one out the other day and thought it had a nice sound to it, plus it had a vocoder which I desperately need / want! I haven’t had a hardware synth before so I haven’t got much of a benchmark to compare it against.
Would mostly use it for electro / electronic blips, bleeps, basses and lead sounds. I’m strongly considering the analogue route though and have been weighing up the Little Phatty or a second hand Korg MS20. The Vocoder on the R3 is a big selling point for me though!
Cheers.
Korg R3 ...... Any Good?

go with the ms20,
its better to get the old schoolish stuff (when it works fine) than paying xtra$$$ on new (even good sounding) synths, BUT you dont have MIDI (MIDI <> CV Converters are available) and the patching is a bit tricky, but funny. WYSISWG, it can sound hissy, grungy, humming but thats part of the game and depends on the unit...
R3 has a good sounding Vocoder, 4 (boohoo) LED Knobs and a lil Display for every Knob showing what youre dealing with, i find it shitty to Program Sound with only 4 Knobs and a Data Wheel.
On the other Hand it has a stripped down RADIAS inside, sounding pretty fat. Bleepy stuff is possible as well as leads and basses...
Go look for that MS20, dude,
