Could someone explain to me how to reproduce the following type of synth sounds please?
Is it one synth note that has a pitch bend or is it multiple notes with a glide effect? or achieved some other way???

Detune my what now...? :)
Hey thanks...
I must explain however that when I said "newbie", I meant exactly that, and what you have just described is beyond my powers currently.
Could you confirm is this a single note distorted, or several notes glided?
Do you know of an instrument/preset combo that achieves the same?
Cheers.

As I hear it is not distorted or maybe just a little bit. And it's probably a melody played note for note (no chords), with overlapping. Any synth that can be set to monophonic with glide can do that.abletondummy wrote:Could you confirm is this a single note distorted, or several notes glided?
What instruments do you have? If you just have Live's built in instruments you should give it a go with a rack with two simplers with the preset sawtoothy, turn on glide, detune them a bit against each other. For a little bit dirt take the saturator and turn on the drive up a little bit, then chain in a delay and experiment with it.abletondummy wrote:Do you know of an instrument/preset combo that achieves the same?
Jörg
Jorg has given excellent advice. Just take a synth patch (saw or pulse or a synthy string will do it) and make it mono (change the number of voices to one) and switch glide or portamento on. You will have to adjust the time to fit the tempo of the track and in the track you gave he went up one tone every octave he went up. I've only heard octave jumps before..on that track he's going up one octave plus one note each time. In other words he hit a low C, then hit the D one octave higher then E another octave higher etc. Only one note was used at a time with delay. You probs won't find a preset because the speed of the glide has to be adjusted. Do you have any hardware? I've got an Ableton file if you want me to email it to you. I used simpler and the string machine preset to make the sound. This is very easy synth programming. Go for it dude!!
