Recommed some active monitors

Post by frequin » Wed Aug 29, 2007 11:12 pm

I have done a search but can’t find any posts that are directed at my use, I’m looking active studio monitors that can be loud and have sufficient bass, I Want to use them in my home dj set up, and to listen to most of my music threw, as well as producing dance, looking for something around the $500AUD mark that’s a bit better then behringer

Any Recommendations?

where are you? sydney?

my advice: don't buy monitors until you have auditioned them live. check allan's music they should have some. seriously. go to as many audio stores as you can and just listen to each monitor until you find what you are looking for, then look for a better price on the internet.

different people have different tastes even monitor wise.

and if you gots a job then save up and get better ones, 500 is very 'beginner'.

allans stock yamaha and event here in adelaide, so i guess you should have them there in sydney too. check them out i think they sound good around the 500 bilby mark. krk and alseis are other options but i prefer the other two.

if its just for a home setup the behringer 2031a's are noice!!!!

extremely loud, like all monitors you need to get used to them when mixing to compensate for hi/lows in your mix.

My own wishlist: either Genelec 8030 or Adam A7. Great reviews all around for these.

The new Yamahas are dope...
But also check out SAMSON Rubicon R5a, these fuckers are ace for the money (around 300 EUR).
ADAMS are great and Genelec are killer too but who has the $$$?

Big +1 here. 10 minutes in a music store with a CD of some of your music on it will save you a ton of time and money.

I just recently bought some Samson Rubicon R5A's for around $500. Sound great with the ribbon tweeter and bass is very sufficient.
