Question Regarding Assigning MIDI to Trigger Finger etc.,

Post by Incentive » Fri Aug 31, 2007 4:18 am

Okay, so I'm having a few problems.

I can't get any hits/kicks/high hats/etc., to go in the MIDI slots so I can assign them to pads on Trigger Finger. I can only hit play on them from the bottom of Ableton, but I can't drag them up. How do I do this?

For the love of God..I'm so confused.

I've figured out how to assign knobs on the Trigger Finger and Photon 25. I still cannot figure out how to assign drums to the trigger finger. It only will hit on my Photon 25, but only on the last three keys (so not every drum sample hits). Please, someone. I've looked all over the net, tried the tutorials, looked online. I'm so lost here.

looks like all you need to do is to figure which midi notes your drum software wants to receive. and then program the tf pads to transmit those notes.

Where do I set the MIDI notes for each pad in Live?

for example, Impulse uses C1-C2 (no sharps)
as far as i remember, can be wrong, check the manual

this is achieved by programming your hardware to output a specific note when you hit a pad

See, when I do memory recall on my Trigger Finger I find where "C1" is but it still won't respond to that. I'm still lost.

Example of what I'm trying to do. I'm using Impulse - Dubois. I'm trying to set those drum hits to the TF. Another problem is that on my Photon 25 those hits are only responding on the last three keys on my Photon 25 rather then in the middle of the MIDI controller keys.

I want to figure out how to set the drum hits to my TF (and fix the Photon25). I'm new to all this...I just really am having a hard time here.

To also note I'm using OSX.

How do I configure the hardware to change each pad's MIDI note?

Okay, I found in Enigma how to configure MIDI notes on the TF. What notes does Impulse use? How do I find this?

Okay, so Impulse uses C4 (60) to C5 (72). Right? I found this somewhere....I still am lost as to how to program this using Enigma to the Trigger Finger. Isn't C4 to C5 just two MIDI notes?

Impulse starts on C3.

C3 to C4 is
C3 C#3 D3 D#3 E3 F3 F#3 etc.

you should spend more time with Live figuring it out than time online.

I'm spending time both online and on live figuring things out. I figured out Impulse...

But now I figured out WHY I'm having so much trouble. Live doesn't have Impulse set to that for some reason. All my keys are off. Instead of the C keys reading as C they are reading as E on Live.

This is the last thing I need to fix then I think I have this figured out.

unless you have a midi pitch plug in in your live set then it's the trigger finger.

hang in there, keep pushing, we've all been there where nothing's making sense and it's not working, after going over the same problems a few times it's a piece of cake, you'll get there.

Hell yeah! I figured it out. I got my TF assigned correctly with Impulse now!

Now all I have left to figure out is how to set it so when I hit a single note on my MIDI Controller that it will continue to play that note while I use my assigned knobs to do the effects on it and I think I'm all set!

how exactly did you get the Trigger Finger working right with impulse?
I'm having the same issue you had.
