I'm a Logic Pro 7 user who's looking at a more dynamic user interface for creating music. Ableton is certainly intriguing. After watching the movies, I was wondering about a specific function:
With a bunch of different song sections setup (i.e. verse, chorus, end, etc) the video tutorial shows how you can record a song arrangement that captures the user turning on and off different sections. I was wondering if you can record MIDI or audio data into Live in real-time while at the same time enabling and disabling parts of the song. In this way, you're capturing arranged sections and live input music.
Your help is appreciated!

Yah I suppose you could if you had like for arms....lol Seriously.. im kinda a newby also but I think its farely easy. Just add another track for the midi or audio you wanna record press record on it. press record on the master record. press play on your intro or whatv seg you want the arrangement its recording your instrument and your segments onto the arrangement tracks. Now how you plan to switch bettewn scenes and play your instrument at the same time I dont know. I suppose you could alternate bettewn or prerecord all the changes of your arrangement and the playing your live instrument on top. The key is just another track , arm it, arm the master record and go!
Yes, it takes a bit of routing though. I think basically I would do it by triggering scenes though, and recording arrangement while recording other stuff.
So I trigger which parts of the song I want - and this gets recorded. At the same time I might have a guitar and a vocalist routed to their own tracks and record that at the same time, while a synth player plays a midi-keyboard that plays a synth which is recorded as midi...
yeah.. piece a cake...
