Session can get so crowded when sketching all kind of ideas; hide it!

What do you think about having sub tracks within the main track. It's like having a session track view within each track. You can add tracks within tracks.

From the main session view. you can expand each main track to have another session view for adding and routing tracks within it's main track. It's like sub folders in a folder type view.

You would be saving both horizontal and vertical space. Think about double clicking a folder to open it and view it's sub folders. By opening the Root track, the session view window is now of the sub tracks inside the root.

Of the GUI screen shot of the grouped tracks in this post, does the grouped track contain audio, midi, and instrument tracks or just audio.

I'm looking to have audio, midi, and instrument tracks grouped together.

the screen shot in this thread is just a small joke..
its Soma's mock-up for his "group tracks" wish..
i just rotated them suggesting its vertical, scene direction..

I'm still confused about you comments because you keep refering to 'tracks'..
my wish is for 'scenes'..

either 'group and hide' scenes or different instances of Session; both are good for me..

That may be my pictures there but I have no idea what you are talking about.

Those pictures were meant to demonstrate a way to make a group track from a selection of tracks.

Why is it sideways?

I was too lazy to do a mock up myself..

Rotating yours was just a joke..
Creating a group from track selection=horizontal..
Creating a group from scene selection=vertical..

Anyway.. what I want is quite simple; create a group from scene selection..
To save screen space..

I still don't get it. :?:
A scene is a whole row right?
Ah, So you want to make several rows into one that can be folded up.
Hmmm.

I'm glad I'm not the first person to think of this. Here's what I'm thinking as far as collapsible scene groups...

Image

I would LOVE this because then when I finish a verse or chorus, I can collapse it and have it out of the way.

thank you very much for doing that mock-up..

exactly what I mean.. huge space saver..

it could even start the first scene and auto-unfold the group when you press play the group..
(and maybe even auto-fold the previous group)
that would be great for live performance..

i would love to see both ways.

grouping tracks ... very handy for sub mixes and hiding things
grouping scenes would be very handing for arranging songs for a live performance set
