Noob: no Midi sound

This is perhaps similar to kotyk's "sounds / Pas de sons" post.

I have installed Live 6 on osx 4.1 and, while i can hear the metronome i can not hear any midi notes i'm playing despite seeing them in "note length". i have puzzled over this problem for an hour, and got to know the progrma in so doing but not solved this mystery, which i'm sure is a simple one.

It's important to know that MIDI doesn't produce any sound on its own. It's just control signals and you have to tell Live to send those signals to an instrument.

As Jorg said, MIDI isn't sound - did you read the manual and go through the Lessons that come with Live 6?
The vast majority of what you need is there.

noob! MIDI no sound!

add one of Live's "instruments" to the midi track, that'll help.
