Pause clips

Post by skinnyjap » Sat May 25, 2002 10:39 am

A nice feature would be the option to set a clip to be 'paused'(rather than 'stopped'), when switching to a different clip on that track.

This would enable you to have for instance a whole tune as one clip, and a loop taken from that tune as another clip; play the track up to the point that you drop in the loop, have the loop play until you decide to drop the rest of the tune back in.

Does that make sense ?

yes, it makes sense!
Have been thinking the same.

As a workaround, I've come up with the following solution.
I'm sure you've thought about it, but if you haven't , here goes:

I make a stereo mixdown of the track, but keep it simple so I can add loops live.
In fact i create two files (or more), i just cut
the main song into pieces, so when i reach the end of each clip, I can make a break for as long as I want, and when I want to proceed with the song, I play the next clip of the main track.

Only catch is that I have to define where I want these breaks before i import them in LIVE.

Hope this was clear!

no need to cut song in pieces,
just use the same file and use the REGIONS to play from diferent parts
