Live 3.0.4 Demo will not launch, cannot delete .cfg file

When launching a recent download of the Live 3.0.4 Demo I get the following message:
" Cannot delete "HD:Users:thc:Library:Preferences:Ableton:Live 3.0.4:VstScanInfo.cfg."
Even if I delete the item in question, or the entire pref folder, the program continue to refuse to launch. I have already run the included Verify Permissions program and it finds no problems.
I am running a Power Mac G4 Dual 1GHz with Mac OS X 10.3.3 and the latest updates. Running 1GB RAM as well. I have one Audio Unit plug-in and no VST plug-ins installed at all.
Any help would be appreciated. I may try this app in Mac OS 9 on my iBook just to try it out, otherwise it hasn't worked for me.
