Best FREE VST Plugins?

Post by craftycurate » Fri Nov 02, 2007 11:55 am

I'm new to Ableton and would like to know which free VST plugins people would recommend ...

1) Best Instruments
2) Best Effects

Thanks in advance!

Best effect: CamelCrusher (at least in my opinion. I use it all the time.)

It all depends on what you intend to do but alot of ppl here seem to like
DBlue Glitch. I like it but don´t use it so frequently. Its cool for live performance though.

I like Voxengo Boogex, grate distortion plug that works well for wicked acid slides.

What type of music do u normally do?
MBP - Ultralite MK3 - Genelec 8020 & 8030 - BCR2000 - padKONTROL - NordRack 2

Thanks folks.

I tend to be quite eclectic, but most stuff ends up being kind of ambient\atnospheric in some way, but that can be drum 'n' bass, or downtempo or anything else. Hard to nail down!

I found DBlue Glitch and have used it a couple of times.

Cheers

Chips32

8bit wavetable synth, very simple with just ADSR and a basic filter.
I totally love this and use it on every track I write, it makes the fattest square wave basslines.

Availble for mac and PC, which makes a nice change from all the ones that are PC only, like dblue. Did manage to find an alternative to dblue for mac though, while not free, is only $15 (which is pretty much free in my books), called Major Malfunction.

Hi ... can't find Chips32 in a Google search - maybe you could point me in the right direction?

Cheers

izotope vinyl. Its a bit like live's viny effect but with a feature that makes your samples sound like they came off records from the stone-age. Sounds pretty damn authentic if you need to dirty things up a bit.
