Rememberance inspired track

This is the last thing I'll do for a while I reckon. Bit burnt out and knackered. Havent a clue where to take this track but here goes:

wow thats beautiful man.
what did you use for the violin at the start? thats a really nice sounding slow vibrato.. is it a sampled instrument?
Love how the middle of the tracks melody is different but has a similar movement, which ties it nicely to the beginning, even though the instruments very different, and then being backed with the more pad like violin... very nice...
Also nicely punctuated with the simple bassline.
All very nicely tied together man, though I thought the "bell" melody kind of ended a bit abbruptly at the end....

Thats two people who like it atleast. I think I'll put it on the rework list (got a big list of tracks to kind of sort out

) as theres still things I'm unhappy with on the track.

The strings are all Lives instruments. Says a LOT for the quality of the stuff that came with Live 6, I have to say. I panned a cello legato sound left, and the violin legato right but they didnt sound right at 120bpm so I reduced it to 115.45 and it came out better. I drew in evelopes here and there for the swells. Not the best way of doing it tbh.

The reverb is on mix bus A - an audio rack with 3 EQ8 and 3 separate reverbs after to get a good chamber sound. I then compressed the buss a tiny bit.

The middle bit is cello and violin playing octaves, as they would in a chamber/quartet.. well I think the violin would.

I think the strings could do with being a bit looser, I have a real violin here but I cant play it very well.

I wonder what I could do to vary and extend the bell at the end (again a pad in Live 6)? The middle arp is a V Station doing all the sound and fx for a grungier feel. Perhaps I could use that sound in some way to help it along...

Probably more people who like it but I find it can be like pulling teeth sometimes on here trying to get feedback, especially constructive feedback rather than just "this is sh1t, I dont like #insert genre here#"

There tend to be the same group of people who tend to make comments in the "post your music" forum.
I find this particular area really inspiring, I love listening to fellow artist music on here because I think you can get alot of origional creativity in emerging or non professional producers. Also you get some interesting ways of doing things.

I actually thought the end was heading for a quite nice sort of subtracing end but then it just faded quite quickly.
Maybe you could keep it goign the way it was with the bell and maybe deepen the delays and fade the wet/dry or something, maybe some high pass closing out or something.... think you had it heading in the right direction. to me it seems a track that needs and end that feels like its completing the whole movement, not leaving any tension at the end.

Yeah I tend to find it hard to get critique all over the web, not just here.

I agree with you though, theres some good stuff on here, reminds me of when i was on Electromancer and the forum there would fill up with talent.

Sorry, what do you mean by subtracing? I'm having a blond moment.

LOL just realised I was right on the limit for uploads on soundclick. Any longer and they reject the mp3.

Nar, not really you being blonde, more me not really using the right term because I couldn't htink of anything more appropriate at the time, still cant

I mean like elements removing a few at a time to break back down the where you started... as opposed to actually having and "end movement" hope that makes more sense

Me too, although I hang mainly at kvr these days. The post your music area, or café in kvr speak, is where the rubber hits the road for me. I don't stop by this one much any more because there's so little listening going on.

...anyhow, nice track downfader, lovely listen and it conveys the introspection you were feeling.

I have to say I've rarely ever looked in on KVR. I know a few people who keep getting banned from there.
