Sale- Macbook Pro, Massive, Reason 2.5, DP 5

Post by Machinesworking » Thu Nov 15, 2007 1:47 am

[edited for pending sales]

Downsizing a bit, trying to concentrate on just the computers and DAWs I absolutely need.

15" Macbook Pro dual 2.16, 2GB RAM, 100GB 7200rpm HD. Laptop's in perfect shape, though the power supply has the notorious fraying wires. As of now it works, but it will have to be replaced. Costs about $75.
$1,000[on hold]

Reason 2.5 $125

Massive (download only) $125 [on hold]

Digital Performer 5.1.2 $250

Dual 2.5 G5 <------ decided not to sell.

I should never go near Craigslist. Ended up getting an unopened box 17" macbook pro, that I'm sort of cross/downsizing to. Anyway got to pay back the $1750 I took out of tax money to get it.

I just have to bump this cause that is a really sweet ass price for a macbook pro with those specs. Too bad I don't need a second one of what I already have. :D

no prevailing genre of music:

whether it's 2 cores or 4 cores its only $1,000.. People act like they had 2 cores way back in 1992 and there's no way they could do anything with it. By the time you leave the counter with that brand new 8 core they'll release a 16 core. It's just better to not buy anything.

I always wondered how you could do this. You were always the self proclaimed king of using the most DAWs! (and saying you need them ALL because each one does something the others don't)

I'd go crazy if I had 3 or more DAW's, bit's and pieces of my mixes everywhere, trying to use them all...while my attention spread thin.

Guess you finally caved in from the pressure after all these years?

It's the first generation dual core, not core 2. The fact that it's a macbook pro with an extra fast HD is why the price is even that high. I tend to sell things at a price I would pay, not the going market. From the looks of ebay, macbook pros like this one are going for about $200 more than $1000, but have no extra RAM, and slower HD's.

I'm downsizing mainly because I bought a 17" macbook pro off craigslist, and because though I really like Digital Performer, I'm firmly entrenched in Logic, and Live. I think if I could do it all over again though, I would have never left DP, and become comfortable with it's strange workflow. The fact that 6 years ago I switched to Logic just makes it all too entrenched.

Reason isn't my bag anymore simply because I have Komplete 5, and love it.

Massive was gift for being a Komplete Care 06 subscriber. They also gave us a $180 gift certificate for their store, and when Komplete 5 came out I bought it. K5 comes with Massive, so it's and extra copy.

The other reason for downsizing, I decided to get Speakerphone, this really great plug in from Audio Ease. Though I have to say I'm pretty upset about it, they only allow one license for challenge response, otherwise it's an iLock. I have been thinking about getting rid of the desktop, to consolidate it all on a laptop, and the 17" is a great compromise.
