problems with bcr2000 and live

Post by ahgnas » Thu Nov 15, 2007 2:42 pm

Hello,

I have problems with bcr2000 and Live 6.010 : sometimes it works fine, sometimes Live don't receive Midi messages (with the same configuration !).
I must relaunch Live and relaunch BCR several times before it works!

It seems to be random and I don't know what I can do for fix the problem.

In preferences :
Midi in : ON / OFF / ON
Midi out : ON / OFF / ON

Can you help me ?

( sorry for my english, because I'm french )

I think that the problem may not be with Live, but with the USB midi for the Behringer.

Get a copy of MIDIOX , the free midi program. http://www.midiox.com/
this will show you if midi is coming into your computer correctly.

I find that when Live doesn't recognize my BCR it is because the computer has not recognized the device correctly.

yes, but it might be attempting to use a microsoft USB driver to get data from that port, badly.

sometimes it is recognized as a port but the data gets all mangled.

I recapitulate my problem :

BCR2000 and Live on Mac Intel are connected with USB.

BCR has latest firmware 1.10 and is in mode USB1.

In live preferences : BCR is recognized,
Midi in : ON / OFF / ON
Midi out : ON / OFF / ON

In mac Audio & Midi Configuration : BCR is recognized as Midi Port In & Out

Live don't receive midi messages from BCR, but BCR receive midi messages from Live...
Or, when I replug the usb cable it works fine (send and receive), but after one or two minutes live don't receive any more midi messages !

please help me!
thank you

I have exactly the same problem, although I did have a previus BCR which worked perfectly but i had to take it back due to a dodgy button, but the new one has the same problems as yours. When I change parameters in Ableton the LEDs follow on the BCR, but Ableton doesnt pick up signals from the BCR, weird. It also doesnt recognise when I toggle controls on the Midi Map, and the Adio Midi Setup menuonly recognises it as having one port named 'BCR2000'. I get the same problem in Reason aswell. I havent got a clue what to do Ive tried everything.

I have seen this problem also. Tried resetting it to factory settings and still nothing happened. First it would recognize the BCR but no midi, now it wont even be recognized on two different macs.

On Windows USB power management needs to be off. Dunno if there's a Mac equivalent don't they "just work"? Sorry couldn't resist. :D

On Windows, again, when the Midi ports show up etc in Live it doesn't mean that they will communicate, quitting Live switching the BCR off & back on will often solve this.

BTW Live would hardly see my BCR at all reinstalling Windows solved this for me.

Could be that your Mac does the "switch off USB port thing" better investigate!

bcr problem

Post by DJTIBBS » Fri Dec 21, 2007 11:01 pm

I have the same problem on my macbook pro with bcr2000 when using Live7
Switching on and off solves the problem ,but only for a few seconds
I've plugged into the left usb port, but the same thing happening..
is there a software update from apple to solve this?
They should really look into this cos lots of people having the same problem and its not just Live related but Serato live scratch as well..and other major daws...

Does it only occur to you on a Mac, everyone? I am having a similar problem - other DAWs recognise it without problems, while Live most of the times doesn't. After Live did not detect it, I cannot use it for any other prog until I re-connect it. This is happening on a Windows computer.
