What's up with Rover?

I need some help with this dog. I am reasonably happy with the song structure and most of the sounds, but I'm getting a bit frustrated with the mix. In Ableton Live, it sounds really nice with headphones after applying an Ozone preset. The master .wav was rendered at 44.1, and then converted to MP3 128 with the Audiofinder encoder. The MP3 sounds not quite as good with the headphones. And the MP3 absolutely SUCKs on the living room stereo. It sounds all tinny and the bass line pitch is flattish compared to the original Live set. Advice?[/b]

I think the mix is fine to my ears while streaming. Its still going to suck next to the master so dont worry. I think your main problme may infact be the way your mp3 player plays back the file? have you tried streaming it to check?

Failing that it could be listening-fatique, so take a break and watch some telly to let your ears recalibrate

Thanks for the feedback! My ears were definitely tired, and the MP3 sounds OK today, particularly right off the hard drive. The same cannot be said for the home stereo system, though. Were you listening with headphones or through monitors/speakers?

I've used the same pair of DT100s for internet and audio use for around the past 8 years.

I've always found mine particularly reliable sonically.

Usually I would use my KRK Rokits, but they're in storage.
