Hey dudes,
I did a support slot for Twine during their recent European tour at a small bar in Aberdeen, The lads were using Live,
I was so impressed that I tracked down Live for myself and will use it definately in a gig situation,
I must say that it took a few gos before I sussed how to use it, and I would reccommend perseverence to anyone who doesnt know what to do at first, it will fall in to place 4 sure,
Chris.

You'll probably catch the occasional Live DJ at Club Gybo, a mash-up night at Nice n Sleazy in Glasgow. Next one's on 11 June but I don't *think* any of the DJs wil be using Live that night. Look out for sets by "Frenchbloke and Son" (who I think is Scottish but may now be based in London) or "Daz Automatic". (Daz: you read this forum don't you? Playing there anytime soon?)

Best place for info on the night is probably http://www.mcsleazy.net

Hi Mosca,

I'm in Scotland too. I'm back home living in 'Fintry' for a while which is quite near stirling.

Where abouts in Scotland are you?

Cheers,

David

Hi Ive played at monox a couple of times too using live and kaoos pad combo (or rather my alter ego Dr Tentacle has, once on the bill with Mr Guest above), Ive done a few other gigs around Glasgow over the last couple of years, sometimes with other people...I ve added a midi / controller keyboard to the set up recently, but havent been pushing for gigs this year (All those people who have said in the past they'd like me to play just drop me an email if you mean it, the same with past others of releases)! Clubing wise its been a bit quiet recently.

Im working on more material at the moment (hopefully this will live up nto a previous describtion of being "awesome abrasive mind candy")..Havent Dj'd in a while either, since its impossible to open a cupboard now a days without a DJ falling on your head..

I'd be up for a laptop jam sort of thing, being from Glasgow as well, it's the kind of thing that only london people get to do!

Although, I would be lugging along my computer system, as I don't have a laptop as of yet! :P

hello again,

mosca - falkirk is near to denny right? i went through there a while back to visit my mate colin..we went to 'behind the wall' or something??? it was a pretty good night and the music was good, mainly soulful us house, all the girls were really fit as well...i went to the local club afterwards (for my sins) i think it was called 'rosie's' or something :? Music was about as far from my taste as i could get but it was good for a few drinks and a laugh...if you exclude me getting slapped twice by a girl i politely asked 'are you from japan?'...scottish asian girls can be quite sensitive i think...

i think the bulk of action in scotland takes place in glasgae as i'm sure your all aware. I've stilll to see a performance with 'Live' however, but I reckon those guys at optimo would be using live for some time now...their music is right up my street. I even hear that they stream tunes from the internet and incorporate it into the mix which is pretty cool..there definetly not on 56k modem then like myself!

there was a wee bar in stirling i went to called 'obe eru' or something...it used to have a dj open night on sundays and i took some tunes down there once and played to an audience of about 5 which was quite fun...(it was end of the student season)...i think i scared the remaining two off when i played 'make it last forever' larry levan 12 min mix. If that night was still open i might head down there in the future once i get all my studies and stuff out the way.

edinburgh seems good just now too...the honey comb had thomas fehlmann recently, which i sadly missed cos i was in Inverness. Thomas fehlmann is making some excellent tracks i reckon.

well, i 'd be up for a laptop jam, or live session some time, once my exams are out the way and i 'm a bit more sorted with my career and stuff i want to really get back into the music again, dj'ing and making tunes properly instead of just spending a few hours on a track and then moving onto something new, which i 'm very guilty of. I have to finish something!!

Bye!

I'm in St Andrews. Using Live 3/Powerbook setup, mainly for theatre and film work, but also for some DJing and putting together pure instrumental tracks for a CD at the moment.

Have worked in music tech (mainly in San Francisco in the 90s). Doing a PhD now. Would be interested in colloborations and idea swapping with others en Ecosse...
