For the money...

for your money, a D battery run boom box might be alright. You could always buy a gas powered generator, but that'd be a pain to lug around :)

If you want it light and mobile you're just as well going with a boom-box that has a line input. Decent speakers at volume require power, those Watts have to come from somewhere it's the laws of physics, so need correspondengly large supplies/batteries which end up being heavy and not too mobile.

I'd go with a boombox and a 12v cigarette lighter adapter (and a long lead??!!??!!)

Or you could just use a minijack to cassette adaptor, the kind for Discmen, and just open your car doors. (You're not from Miami, by any chance? )
