Track 1 volume active but Master output silent

Sometimes the GS Instrument Output won't play. At first I thought it was me (I'm a newbie), but now I'm quite sure it's not me.

I've saved a live set playing drum clips to GS instrument output (Midi track 1) in Session view. After loading a midi file to the Live Set (midi tracks 2-6), the drum clips don't sound (the volume meter for track 1 moves, but the Master doesn't. If I change the output from GS instrument to my midi card output, it then sounds.
