Question about rendering

Post by Bill_Lee » Tue Nov 27, 2007 3:19 pm

So, i made a mixtape on live. I recorded the whole thing with ableton's recording function, then rendered it as a WAV file. when i listen to it on windows media player, it sounds great. the problem is that its almost 1.5g and it seems to be an odd kind of wave file-- i can't find a program that will compress it. i don't have any cdr's around so i don't know if it will properly burn onto a disc. as an experiment, i put it on my mp3 player and tried listening to it. my player just skipped right to the next file.

i read on here a while ago that its not ideal to use ableton to record an entire mix, but at the moment i have no other means of recording. any suggestions?

It's fine to use Live for recording, many of us here do it with no issues at all. You need to make sure you render the file as a 16bit stereo wav, likely you are rendering as 24bit or AIFF it sounds like. Then you can use something like iTunes to make an MP3 if you wanted.
