When upgrading hardware and software...

Post by spaceribbon » Sun Dec 02, 2007 9:41 am

Software:

I noticed that the new compressor allows me to achieve greater gain/volume if I re-adjust my Live 6 songs with 7. Should I reformat all the tracks now? Do all the tracks have greater potential with re-adjusting? What other actions should I take to improve my upgrade my songs composed in Live 6 with Live 7's capabilities?

Hardware:

I plan on upgrading to the MOTU traveler or Apogee Duet from my M-Audio Solo Firewire interface. And I also plan on purchasing a MacBook 2.2ghz with 4GB Ram upgrade from my G4 laptop 1ghz/1gb Ram, and running the old one as a slave. I will use it for live electronic music performance and production. My question... Will my song settings need to be changed? Is the overall quality automatically enhanced with a better interace? Or do I need to rerecord or all the midi tracks + settings etc.

Please ask if you need me to be more specific.

Thanks, these questions are very important any advice is apreciated.
