Alesis DM Pro kit - my views

Post by downfader » Mon Dec 03, 2007 5:58 pm

I just managed to set this up temporarily in the lounge at home to have a decent play. I always thought the idea of electronic drumsets were that they were QUIET!!! 8O 8O 8O

These trigger pads are so damn loud. God knows what me neighbour was thinking.

It's like putting a silencer on a machine gun. It's a different and softer level of annoying listening to somebody bang away on pads with headphones on or having to turn your speakers up loud enough to not hear the pads being hit.

Very apt!

Yeah for what they do its ok, but I'm gonna deafen meself in the process of playing them. I can see why the mesh heads are so sought after (and expensive) perhaps oneday I might upgrade. I think the Alesis will take the Roland trigger pads, but at 300 quid a pad its nearly as much as the whole DM pro. 8O

To be honest, someone bashing away at a V-Kit with mesh pads isn't exactly going to go unnoticed... ;)

The Roland PD9 rubber trigger pads were by far the worst culprit - the V-Cymbals and hats are much better. The kick pad is the next loudest, and then the mesh pads. But especially if you like to play hard, it's going to generate noise - no-where near on the same level as an acoustic drumkit, but certainly loud enough to annoy the neighours in some situations...

I've always hankered after a large fusion acoustic drumkit. The sounds they make are just loverly but oh-so-loud as hell!!

Imagine the racket I could make with 2 kick drums, 2 snares, 8 cymbals (incl 2 crashes/hats), etc.
