Picked up an Alesis Control Pad (much like Roland's Octapad, if they still make that) and want to control drum kits in Impulse (Live 6). Getting MIDI in, MIDI notes are recorded, but they don't relate to the drums. I can drag these notes over to the drum positions in the MIDI piano roll and the drums sound when the passage is played back.
How do I get the darned drums sounds mapped to the pads? Of course I went for the MIDI Map, but drum hits aren't available--just continuous controllers, etc. The manual covers mostly control surfaces like my UC-33, and so far I'm stumped.

Use the search options...
you will find that Impulse uses notes C3 D3 E3 F3 G3 A3 B3 C4
Simply program your pads to send those notes...
Voila

You know, there is a tutorial on using the Axiom controller with Live. There is a preset specifically designed so that the pads control impulse - just download it from the Ableton site.
