2 gigantic bugs in version 7!

Post by Heinz Graaf » Tue Dec 04, 2007 11:15 pm

I have terrible layency issues with Live 7. In a blank project, I cant play the Simpler with any latency settings below 512 samples! It crackles and sounds like "BLEEP". In Live 6, everything was OK. What could be the problem? Im using the same notebook and the same audio interface with its driver, RME & Hammerfall on PIV as before.

I have also noticed that all Impulse sounds are timestretched, even though the "stretch" knob is turned to zero. if you give them a negative value, they are not timestretched anymore. All my Impulse drumkits from previous projects sound timestretched.

Does anyone have the same problem(s)?

I allready sent a bug report via email regarding the impulse timestrecht/playback issue and got the confirmation that it indeed is a bug and that they look after it.
Since the forum went nuts some days ago i forgot to add a post here. anyways, lets hope they fix it in the next update!

And what about the latency issue?? I just cant take advantage of my RME low latency driver anymore!!! This is a real pain in the arse. For this alone I HAVE to switch back to version 6. I always work with a latency of 0.7ms to 3ms. Works perfect in my other programs, including older Ableton software.

Now the good: when working with a latency of 512 samples (so that it doesnt crackles all the way through), I notice no drastic difference in CPU usage compared to Ableton Live 6. Also, from what Ive heared (because the friggin Impulse is messing up my drums), the overall sound IS different, it is def better. It is way more clear. Ableton did a very fine job concerning that aspect. Another things Ive noticed is that the program reacts slower in general (the GUI) but zooming for example goes wayyy faster, really speedy which is excellent!

To Ableton: please fix these two major things and youll have a killer app!! :D
