what are all these gigantic Freeze files
what are all these gigantic Freeze files
I recently got 6 and now 7 and in both the freeze files are out of control. Sets with a few short audio loops are growing to 250Mb - 750 Mb in size. Do I need to be more specific or is this an obvious thing?

i get that all the time - try cropping all the files to get rid of bits not being used (ok, sometimes that makes it worse depending)
are you freezing in arrangement or seesion view? that's going to make a difference

doesn't Live freeze the everything, session and arrangement no matter which side you're on?spookydirt wrote: are you freezing in arrangement or seesion view? that's going to make a difference

but if you freeze before there is an arrangement, you only get files the size of the clips not the size of the song.
i should have made that clear

Im still on Live 6 and have meant to post on this in the past.
My workaround is to consolidate all midi parts of a track that I want to freeze and then cut it from arrange view, pasting into Session view. Then right-click the clip and freeze= makes a small audio file.
I still wish that it worked the same way in arrange though. Alot of times I'll just lay down a 2-4 bar loop and then freeze and flatten as a quick-bounce method. But when it renders all the blank space that is the length of the song it's just a waste.
As far as the overwhelming freeze file sizes in v.7 has it been confirmed that it's a bug?

I don't think so. There's a thread around here somewhere called something like "Live 7 vs. Live 6" performance test and there's not much difference.longjohns wrote:The downside of 64-bit engine?

hi Amaury\\Amaury wrote:Hi,nowtime wrote:when I hit collect all and save,, it pulls in some freeze files that dont exist in the set.
Are you sure the freeze files are not used by other sets in the same project?
Regards,
Amaury
There are no other sets in this project. Just an alias for my desktop on my Mac.
I made sure to save this set (my Template) deleting those freeze files that must have once belonged to this set and did collect all and save.
i then save as a new title and collectall and save. there is no Samples folder at this point. but when I start dropping clips or recording into my new set, if i exit and look in the freeze folder, there are these 4 old freeze clips out of nowhere.
