Sampler Confused

Post by voidseeker » Wed Dec 12, 2007 7:10 am

I really like Kontakt 3, yet I feel drawn to Live's sampler as a streamlined playflow. Has anyone pursued this path? I know I'm giving up "some" power. Most of what I would miss is the midi scripting.

What I wouldn't miss are the incompatable non-editable sample libraries. I would love to convert all the useable likable samples, to Live sampler. Thats why I really want Max to create midi FX! (see next point).

BTW, when C74 and Ableton pair up, hopefully the merger has 74 creating an interface in Pluggo that creates Ableton compatable synths, midi fx, and audio fx with normal look and feel... (my biggest wish)?

different beasts altogether... depends on your workflow...
Try it as a demo... is the best advice ... I guess..

i agree, try the demo. switching from Kontakt to Sampler may be a huge downgrade, so you better make sure you totally try it out and see if it's worth it (assuming you'll be selling your kopy of Kontakt).

They are both worth having i f you ask me.They are so very different, that between them, they sort of cover everything you'd really want out of sampling. The quickest flow and utmost convenience to the most complex modulations, instruments and sample libraries. Simpler/Kontakt can also be that sort of combo, but sampler's a nice in-between.
