would it be powerfull enough

ive got a toshiba satellite

its the biggest pile of shite iver ever wasted money on

if u buy it expect audio problems and usb problems
expect zero support from toshiba

steer clear

i got one, but i was experiencing glitches on my firewire audiocard (fw410) each time the fan of the computer kicked in.
so i went back to the shop and got an Asus.

don't buy it for audio imo.

peeddrroo, if it only happens when the fan kicks in it has to be the extra power needed for the fan?!? doesn't it? unless its creating interference thats messing with the audio??

Someone must of overcome this surely???

but dont really give any valid reasons . the support site seems quite good

that's "funny", I read 3 good people chiming in with their thoughts on a brand - thoughts YOU asked for, and these people have even had quite severe problems with their machines... and you laugh at them? Don't you think that's a bit... erhm... rude?

OK, so I have a p105 spec Toshiba. There are, in fact, severe problems regarding most core2duo Toshiba laptops. Some HP laptops have this same issue. The issue is that there is a NOTICEABLE latency spike when the fan kicks on and off. This is a FACT corraborated by a nifty little utility call DPCLatency checker. Last I checked it was XP only, but they may have updated for Vista. Running the laptop straight is NO GOOD for proaudio work. SERIOUSLY!! Here is the solution...you must run the laptop in MPS multiprocessor mode rather than in ASCI mode. This is done by going to hardware manager and opening computer, and choosing to run the MPS multiprocessor drivers. THIS IS POTENTIALLY RISKY! Upon rebooting, you will need the disk to reinstal component drivers. After doing all this, the fan will stay always on at low speed. You will now have ZERO hiccups regarding latency when checking with DPCLatency utility...thus, no more audio glitching. There are a couple of quirks running in MPS mode. First off, fan on=less battery. I always plug in, so not an issue for me! You must turn off the computer old school ala 98...splash screen with 'it is now safe to turn off your computer'. No biggie. MPS is also COMPLETELY unsupported by Toshiba support...yes, they are a bunch of fuckers! I was about to ditch my laptop before I tried this solution. Actually, my whole system seems snappier and quicker running in this mode. And NO MORE AUDIO GLITCHES! So, before dumping any Toshibas, I suggest you try this solution. BACK UP ALL HARD_DRIVES AND PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK. Not really sure why, but this was the advice given on a forum where I found this solution. The Toshiba bios updates DO NOT solve the problem. I do not know if this problem exists under Vista. But honestly, i would recommend you AWAY from Toshiba, although I LOVE my computer and am currently running Crysis on my laptop with no real problems. Before you buy any laptop, run DPCLatency on it for a good 20 minutes or so to make sure you do not get any spikes. Spikes=audio glitching! (and I have an RME FF and the Toshiba glitched with an EMU 1616m as well). Hope this helps!

Yeah, mate, I have one and have the same problems everyone else here described. If you want less than 20 or some ms of latency, I suggest you spend your money elsewhere. Beleive me, it's a bitch.

@amcnally, do you have any further info about the MPS thing you've done? Do you perhaps remember which forum you found teh info on? I looked all over a couple of months ago for solutions and kind of gave up, but I'd be curious to try again if you got it working successfully without too many problems.
