Part of the Movement has some great ideas going on but that reverb over-dominates and ruins it. For a similar effect try gating the reverb in Live to get a cut-off sound.

Nice progression at 2.40 odd, it goes a little off kilter at times though. One to keep working on.

EDIT: Decade has some Sisters of Mercy vibes going on. The guitar reminds me of Rotting Christ and Sentenced (when they went mellower). Yeah this is quite good. A little cluttered perhaps at times but you're on the right path.

thanks downfader. good tips.

I've always been a major fan of reverb and willingly know I often go overboard. It's like an addiction even though it tends to muddy up the mix!

How would you gate the reverb? Won't that create too abrupt of a stop to the reverb tail? I'm thinking of bad Def Lepard snares here.

Any tricks to acheive that smoothly?

Funnily enough it was the Def Leapard (sp?) snare affect I was thinking of

Does work quite well at times though, you just adjust the release of the gate to suit the tail off, I find.

Failing that I find sending the reverb to a bus and compressing it works well. If you find these too muddy use the autofilters hipass or the EQ8 to cut off the lower frequencies of the reverb.
