serious clip import problem

Hi, all. Just discovered the forum, spent a couple hours reading thru. Good stuff.

My problem: I created 4-bar clips with my gear, edited them on my pc, transfered them to a folder in my Mac. I made eight bassline clips, four percussive clips. When I load one of these clips, there is no sound. My current project will show that it is playing, but these clips have absolutely no sound. Further, they also render all my other clips (samples that came with LIVE and usually never have a problem playing) with no sound. The level for each of these created clips is shown to be red-lining.

These clips won't even play in preview. I can play them no problem outside of LIVE, either directly from the folder or in iTunes, but they are silent in LIVE and render the entire project silent. I first used .wav, then converted them to .mp3--nothing either way. I tried turning off the QUANTIZE but that didn't help. These created clips alsow look strange in the clip view; they don't have the usual peaks and valleys of .wav or .mp3 clips--they almost look like MIDI clips with long runs of solid "notes" for lack of a better term, with no spacing between them, no logical pattern. And yes, I load these new clips in audio scenes, not MIDI scenes.

I can record clips directly from my gear and they play just fine, and I can launch other clips already loaded on my drive with no problem. But recording my clips directly from my gear is limiting; I needed to edit them in Soundforge on my PC, then transfer them to my Mac.

I worked with LIVE for over a year without ever having this problem. I took a year off from producing and just got back to LIVE a week ago. There's probably a simple answer to my problem that I'm overlooking but I couldn't find a similar topic when I tried the SEARCH feature on these boards.
