Which is RadioHeads best CD(s)? I'm looking to get a few for x-mas for a few friends.

I think OK COmputer is their most innovative, creative, and enjoyable to listen to overall.

Anything dated before that for more straight up rock that is still great. And anything dated after for more experimental, and often quite melancholy and whiny. They're all pretty good, but nothing hit me as hard as OK Computer.

I'd say that The Bends or OK Computer are 2 of the most accessible of their albums. You'll probably get them on the cheap too! So score on that front (sure go on by them both)

I'm loving In Rainbows at the moment but not sure how your friends are going to take an album that you can name the price for?

don't go for 'Amnesiac' - one of the most irritating cds i've ever heard, although i can't put my finger on why. thankfully i hadn't actually bought it myself.

'in rainbows' is pretty good, as is 'kid A'.

They are all awesome in their own way.

My favorites of all time would have to be Ok Computer, Hail to the Thief, In Rainbows, and The Bends. The Bends is pre-electronic for them, but it has some of the most amazing songs on it. Ok Computer was a perfect mix of guitar, song writing and electronics, while Hail to the Thief moved them a little closer to the electronic side of things.

Like someone else said, Ok Computer is a no-brainer. It's still ground breaking by today's standards, and brilliant in every way.

I wouldn't count out Thom Yorke's solo album, The Eraser... it's also very good.

OK Computer like everyone else said is the easiest for the average listener,followed by Hail to the thief(Punchup at a wedding) is a killer track both lyrically and musically.

Beyond those two you'd have to be a real fan to enjoy.

I couldn't DL inrainbows so i guess i'll buy the disc when available as i own all of there music...

I think the bends is more listenable than OK computer and better. These are their sort of "well, we are English afterall" albums, imo, and are fairly straightoward while OK is a tad more theatrical in some ways. Pablo Honey they still sort of played like they were after a Nirvana/Sonic Youth/Pixies sort of thing.

After Kid A radiohead may as well be considered a different band. Traces of Jazz, DJ Shadow and Stereolab start kicking in everywhere. Most people seeem to like Kid A over Insomniac. I would have to agree, because National Anthem, Idioteque, and How to dissapear completely all blast like a bat out of hell. Amnesiac's tracks seem somewhat more balanced but none strike me as having the quite the punch. OK I lied. I might be wrong is fucking epic, Knives Out is brutal to play on guitar, incredible live, and painterly, and Pyramid made me learn how to play keys.

Their last two do not have the same level of content to them that earlier releases did though their instrumentation is as good as ever. They are both perhaps the best albums I have lilstened to on extended roadtrips.

I think they were using a LOT of ableton live at some point in the creation of In Rainbows. Also, I find it funny how memebres of U2 and Radiohead seem to go back and forth grabbing inspriation off of each other. It almost seems cyclical, though I am sure it is much more natural and sincere than and outsider can imagine. Yorke definately paints a clear image in IR that he appreciates Bono's meadering howls.

Amnesiac is my favourite album, as it helped me make sense of Kid A. But anything from OK computer onwards is great.
